Katsina Governor Launches Distribution of 42,000 Tons of Food Aid Nationwide

Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD, has launched the distribution of 42,000 tons of food provided by the Federal Government to be shared across the 774 local government areas of Nigeria.

The Governor inaugurated the food distribution at the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) located in the Old Government House in Katsina State.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda stated that the State Government has also provided 40,000 bags of rice, which have been distributed across the 34 local government areas in the state.

Furthermore, the Governor announced that to ease the burden on farmers during this rainy season, his administration has provided 20,000 tons of fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and other agricultural inputs to the farmers in the state.

He also mentioned that the State Government had spent over two billion naira to enhance dry season farming activities in the past.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda highlighted that his administration has recruited 722 agricultural extension workers and provided them with motorcycles to support the farmers in the state.

During the last month of Ramadan, the Governor noted that the Katsina State Government sold over 78,000 bags of foodstuffs at subsidised rates and established food centres for the needy in all 361 wards of the state.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue supporting the underprivileged in all sectors.

He further disclosed that his government has partnered with international experts to introduce modern farming techniques to the farmers in the state.

Governor Radda expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for their efforts in alleviating the hardships faced by the needy.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda distributed over 20 million naira to 39 individuals from the 34 local government areas in the state who had suffered losses due to fire incidents, under the SEMA program.

Governor Radda prayed for God’s protection and restoration of what the victims had lost.

The Chairperson of SEMA, Hajiya Binta Hussaini Dangani, thanked Governor Radda for the support extended to the fire victims.
